

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 1:00PM in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Chaplain Lora Schmidt officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service.
Mrs. Holmes was born December 17, 1930 in Talbotton, Georgia, the daughter of the late Joseph Harrison Collier and Mattie Lou Mahone Collier. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Gene Holmes and her sisters, Kathleen Collier Slade and Margaret Collier Hughes.
Louise was a beautiful person both inside and out. She was a loving and generous daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her daughters and her grandchildren, all of whom lovingly called her Nino. Louise also enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, decorating and painting.
Mrs. Homes is survived by her three daughters, Lynn Curry and her husband Russell, Debra Moore Hale and her husband Michael, and Kim Moore Joiner. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephanie Ligon Chapman and her husband Ken, Jennifer Hale Williams, Laura Hale Toms, Leigh Ligon Watkins and her husband Doug, Joshua Michael Hale and his wife Kathy, Lori Ligon Hughes and her husband Jeff, Ellis Calvin Weatherford III and Douglas Cameron Joiner; and her great grandchildren Jake Watkins, Wil Watkins, Madison Hughes, Meghan Hughes, Madelyn Chapman, Kenneth Chapman, Drew Wiggins, Alex Williams, Collin Williams, Nick Toms, Gabrielle Toms, Preston Toms, and Brayden Hale; and her niece and nephews, Jo Ann Hughes, Thomas Reeves Slade, and Joseph Collier Slade; numerous cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank those who cared for her at Columbus Hospice, Warm Springs Medical Center and Nursing Home, and Morningside of Columbus.
