Doris Hambrick went home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2018, at her home. The Hambrick family would like to visit with loved ones and friends for visitation Sunday, April 22, 2018, from 3 to 5 PM in Striffler-Hamby’s St. Elmo room, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia. Alongside Striffler-Hamby, graveside services for Ms. Hambrick will be held 2 PM on Monday, April 24, 2018, at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia.
Doris Hambrick was born August 24, 1924, to the late Julia Price and William Daniel in Americus, Georgia. The devoted member of Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church, is remembered fondly by her family for her love of gardening, reading, and cooking, especially cornbread.
Along with her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her loving husband, MSGT Lewis Woodruff Hambrick, and her siblings: J.W. Daniel, Wayne Whitten, and Bernice Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Sandra Darleen (Richard) Whittemore of Waverly Hall, Georgia, and Randall Lewis Hambrick of Phenix City, Alabama; siblings, Gene (Emmajean) Whitten and Virginia Lott of Cataula, Georgia; grandchildren, Richard Whittemore, Jr., Karen Huff, Melissa Tucker and husband Lee, Michelle Whittemore, great grandchildren, Zachary Norris, Amanda Duncan, Sean Whittemore, Austin Melendez, Zoe Huff, Alyssa Melendez, and Layla Tucker. Doris also leaves behind many other friends and loved ones who will forever cherish her loving strong spirit and miss her dearly.
