
Graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 15, 2015 in Parkhill Cemetery according to Striffler - Hamby, 4071 Macon Road. Rev. Chuck Hasty and Dr. Jones Doughton will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mary Johnson McDuffie was born in Columbus, GA to Dr. James H. McDuffie, Jr. and Lucile Peacock McDuffie on August 25, 1926. She attended Wynnton School and Columbus High School and graduated from Sweet Briar College in 1948. She married Lee R. Redmond, Jr. of Cincinnati, OH in 1948 and they made their home in Columbus, enjoying a happy marriage of over 67 years. She was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church and in past years was active in the Junior League of Columbus, The Junto Study Club, The Colonial Dames, Midland Fox Hounds Pony Club, and various school PTA's.
She was a woman of great beauty, strong character, and intelligence and possessed a good sense of humor. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, James H. McDuffie, III, and her sisters, Lucile McDuffie Sylvan Wilmeth and Sarah McDuffie Hardaway.
She is survived by her husband, Lee R. Redmond, Jr. and children: sons, Lee R. (KC) Redmond, III, San Juan Capistrano, CA and James M. (Leigh Bailey) Redmond of Clinton, MS and daughters, Frances R. (Booth) Malone and Lucile R. (Thomas) Flournoy both of Columbus, GA.
Also survived by grandchildren, Marshall (Dessie) Redmond, Temple, TX, Katie (Steven) Lindsay, Greensboro, NC, Parker (Manu) Redmond, Ennis, MT, Lee (Lauren) Redmond, IV, Newport Beach, CA, Lucy Flournoy, Dortmund, Germany, Elizabeth Flournoy, Boulder, CO, Courtney (Jimmy) Rambo, Simpsonville, SC, Ann Conger, New Orleans, LA, and Ali Randle, Prescott, AZ. She is also Survived by 4 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to her caregivers for their many kindnesses and care: Betty Fox, Ella Mae Welch, Lacresia Moss, Meticho O'Neal, Tammy Williams, Mary Morton, and Mary Cheney. We would also like to thank Lori Cooper (Divine Dinners) and all those at Columbus Hospice who made this last week a peaceful one.
