A service to celebrate Mattie’s life will be held on Tuesday February 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, Georgia. Family will visit with friends before the service beginning at 10:00 AM in Edgewood Hall. Burial will follow the service in Parkhill Cemetery.
Mattie was born in Coffee Springs, Alabama to the late Letha Bryant Golden and Jesse G. Golden. She was married to the late Eugene Thomas Curley. Mattie was Christian by faith, she attended church until her health didn’t allow her to travel to church worship services. Mattie loved her family and spending time with them, whether it was on a shopping trip, to the casino, or to her favorite place to eat-any Mexican Restaurant. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother. Mattie instilled the value of hard work, being responsible and loving one another onto her family.
She is survived by her children: Curtis E. (Rebecca) Curley, Geretha Stephens, and Robert E. (Monika) Curley; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and eleven great great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and family friends. Mattie was preceded in death by other than her parents Letha and Jesse Golden and her husband Eugene Thomas Curley, by her son Tommy Ray Curley and her daughter Dorothy Laverne Ezell.
