Visitation of family and friends will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, Friday, December 28, 2018 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 PM in Edgewood Hall in Stiffler-Hamby Mortuary..
Mr. Bailey married Lucy Ines Jones November 19, 1972 and started their life together raising their children, Christopher and Adrianne. He proudly served in the United Sates Navy during the Vietnam War. He received his Bachelors in Criminal Justice and Masters of Public Administration from Columbus State University and his Doctorate Degree in Public Admiration from the University of Alabama. Mr. Bailey also served as Chair of Criminal Justice and Sociology at Columbus State University from 2004-2018 and dedicated 28 years to the Muscogee County Sherriff’s Department.
Mr. Bailey was always in service to others, always fair and trustworthy. He loved making a difference and spending time with his family. He always believed in loving others and showing compassion because you never knew what others had been through. His kind ways and big hugs will be missed very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Kay Black and Eloise Wright; brothers, Delmas Bailey and Jimmy Bailey. Mr. Bailey is survived by his loving wife, Lucy Ines Bailey; son, Christopher Lee Bailey; daughter, Adrianne Marie Adams; grandchildren, Patelyn Adams, Wynn Adams, Lily Adams and Amzlee Adams.
