It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Wayne Leininger, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend who left this world on June 26, 2025. Michael was a vibrant spirit known for his adventurous nature, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness. He was 55 years old.
Born on December 29, 1969, Michael grew up with a passion for the outdoors that would shape his life as a dedicated horticulturist; he found joy in nurturing plants and sharing the beauty of nature with those around him. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for adventure, as he embraced life as a daredevil spirit that inspired everyone he met.
Michael was a goofy friend, always ready to share a laugh or light-hearted joke. His warmth and generosity touched the lives of many, and he had an extraordinary ability to make others feel value and loved. He was a devoted father, whose love for his children knew no bounds. He cherished every moment spent with them, instilling in them the same love for life he embodied. A true music and movie enthusiast Michael found joy in the melodies that filled his home. He had a particular fondness for Auburn Football always proudly cheering for his team and sharing that passion with friends and family.
Michael is survived by his loving children his daughter Breanna Faith Leininger (fiancé Alexander Fouts), his son Jonathon Leininger, the mother of his children and ex-spouse of 16 years Shana Anderson, his devoted parents Mary and Frank Richardson, his cherished siblings, sister Lisa Lawrence and brother-in-law Michael Lawrence, sister Kelly Hudgins and brother in law Wendel Hudgins, a niece Demi Sky Parsons and her husband Bryan Parsons, a nephew Steven Bowens and his wife Cathy and their son Max, as well as a host of friends who will forever remember his laughter and light. It's not a goodbye, it's a see you later Toes Leininger.
In honoring Michael's memory, we invite all who knew him to celebrate his life by sharing stories, laughter, and love, just as he would have wanted. A memorial service will be held on July 5, 2025 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Mill Room, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, Georgia, 31907 at 3:00 PM, where we will gather to remember the incredible man he was.
Michael Wayne Leininger will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty of the nature that he loved o dear.
