Michael Stephen Moyer

Michael Stephen Moyer, age 68, of Columbus, GA passed away on May 4, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. In keeping with efforts to assure the safety and health of others during the current virus panic, the family held a private graveside service for him on Wednesday, May 6, 2020.

Mike was born on September 13, 1951 in Columbus, GA; the son of Russell Ellwood Moyer and Caroline Hutt Moyer. Mike graduated from Columbus High School in 1969 and continued his education at Auburn University, where he graduated in 1973. Following in his father's footsteps, Mike went into banking after graduation and was a vice president at Bank South in Atlanta for many years.

He lived a life of service to others; he was generous, often putting others' needs before his own. He had the highest integrity and loved unconditionally. He displayed these traits in the business world, at church, and at home. Mike loved spending time with his family -- helping them, listening to them, and loving them. Being an Auburn graduate, he was a staunch supporter of Auburn University and Auburn athletics. In spite of being ill the last several years of his life, he did not miss a single Auburn home football game in fifty years!

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ellwood and Caroline Moyer. Survivors include his sister, Roxanne M. Champion, two brothers, Keith Moyer and Stan Moyer, and several nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly.
