Michael will be remembered with deep respect for the steady way he showed up for the people around him—family, friends, and neighbors alike—always ready to lend a hand and meet a need without hesitation. His life reflected a quiet strength and a practical kindness, expressed not in grand gestures, but in the dependable care he offered day after day.
He found genuine joy in the outdoors and the simple pleasures that come with it: fishing, camping, and time in the mountains. Whether he was headed toward a favorite mountain view, or making plans to be near the water, Michael valued the peace of open skies and the freedom of the road. He also enjoyed shooting pool, shooting guns, and driving fast cars—interests that spoke to his love of focus, skill, and the thrill of a well-lived moment.
Michael’s heart was most at home with those he loved. He cherished playing with his grandkids and took pride in gathering the family close, especially during holidays and celebrations—Christmas, Easter, Valentines, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and birthdays—occasions he helped make memorable through his presence and attention. He also deeply loved his dogs, a devotion that reflected the warmth and loyalty that shaped his everyday life.
A devoted NASCAR fan, Michael especially loved Dale Earnhart, and he carried that same appreciation for grit and determination into the way he lived. He also treasured time spent with his wife, particularly during trips to Helen, Georgia, and Panama City, Florida—places that held meaning for them and offered the kind of shared time he valued most.
Michael had a lasting appreciation for capturing life as it happened. He loved taking photographs of the mountains and the beach, and he took countless pictures of family and friends—especially the grandchildren—preserving ordinary moments and milestone days alike with care and pride. In those images, and in the memories they hold, his attentiveness and love remain clearly seen.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Fred Brannon and his mother, Syliverene Berling. He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Reynolds; son, Jonathan Reynolds; his daughter, Melissa Guthrie (Lee); his father, Clarence Reynolds; his sisters, Jewell Hardeman (Wayne) and Maggie Martin and his brothers, Wendell Reynolds (Beverley) and Steve Reynolds.
