Michiko Hernandez passed away in peace at her home in Columbus, Georgia surrounded by her loving family on Saturday July 16, 2016. Michiko was born on March 28, 1949 in Fukuoka, Japan to the late Sunao Tsukamoto and the late Kazuki Tsukamoto. Her spirit is carried on by her husband, three children, three grandchildren, brother, and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life. We were fortunate to learn many valuable lessons from Michiko during her 67 years. Among them: Stay strong, keep up the good fight and never lose faith. When life gets tough, chant nam-myoho-renge-kyo. All creatures great and small deserve our love. Let a dog (or two or three) share your home; it makes it a happier place. Love doesn’t come with conditions. Live with joy and laugh often, especially at our selves. Make new friends everywhere you go. Choose to see the best in everyone. Lastly, nothing says love quite like rice balls. In her lifetime, Michiko endeared herself to everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her generosity, her selflessness, her indomitable spirit, and the positive impact she made on family, friends and strangers. Those who've taken her lessons to heart will continue to give back to the world with a smile. She is survived by her husband, Richard Hernandez, children and grandchildren: David Moore (children Caroline and Amanda); Steven Moore (Kim) (children: Bradley, Madison, and Lola); Janet Ramirez (Juan); brother Seiji Tsukamoto (Akiko, children Yukino and Yuichi) and many friends too numerous to list but not forgotten.
Visitation for Michiko will begin at 11:00 am, on Saturday, July 23, 2016 in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia, followed by a service at 1:00 pm in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby.
