Dothan, Alabama- Milton “Bo” Brookins, age 83, resident of Dothan, Alabama, died on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Campbellton- Graceville Hospital, Graceville, Florida. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, 3 p.m. with Reverend Al Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 9, 2013
from 5-7 p.m.
Mr. Brookins, son of the late Benjamin Buckner Brookins and Bessie Hall Brookins, was born February 27, 1930 in Geneva
County, Alabama. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Huguley, Alabama. Mr. Brookins was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served his country honorably during the Korean Era Conflict as a Security Policeman at Maxwell AFB and Kirkland AFB. After leaving the military, he began a career in Insurance Sales where he faithfully worked as a Sales Agent and Sales Manager for Interstate Life Insurance, Gulf Life Insurance, and United Life Insurance. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lecie McGahee and Kathleen Saunders; one brother, Willie Lee Brookins; and a step-grandson, Matthew Bryant. Mr. Brookins is survived by his wife, Joann Brookins; two daughters, Shirley Ann Brookins and
Becky (Craig) Parnell; two sons, Kent (Susan) Brookins and Scott (Marian) Brookins; one step-daughter, Delana (Joel) Upchurch; three granddaughters, MaKenzie, Brittany (Chris) Parnell, and Lani Parnell; two grandsons, Tyler and Trent
Parnell; one step-grandson, Jacob (Tiffany) Hudmon; step-great-grandchildren, Alexia Byrd, Cole Hudmon, and Jordan Hudmon; other relatives and friends.
