Mitizie Joyce Milner, 84, of Cataula, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Her family would like to welcome loved ones and friends for a visitation, Sunday, May 27, 2018, from 3:00PM until 5:00PM in the Mill Room at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. Graveside services will take place Monday, May 28, 2018 at Parkhill Cemetery at 11:00AM.
Mitizie was born December 6, 1933, and was lovingly cared for by her father and step mother, the late Tebe and Lucile Burlison. Affectionately known as the “Burlison Sisters”, Mitizie and her late sisters, Emma Lou, Mary, and Rosie, were known for their kindness and the friendship they offered to the
people in the community. Mitizie married her late husband, Earl Milner, in July 1958. The two would
grow together with their little family before Earl’s passing in 1998. Ms. Milner was a devoted member to
Hillcrest Church of God and Pentecostal Tabernacle of Faith. Following her retirement from Bibb Mill
as a Spinner, Mitizie would spend her days giving out little boxes of raisins, watching soap operas, and
visiting with friends while rocking on her front porch.
Mitizie is preceded in death by: her father and stepmother, Tebe and Lucile Burlison; her husband, Earl
Milner; two sons, Frankie and Dennis Milner; her sweet sisters, Emma Lou Anderson, Mary Johnson,
Rosie Morris.
She is survived by: a daughter, Faye (Walt) Calhoun; grandchildren, Terry (Jessica) Cook, Tony (Skyla) Cook, Chad (Taylor) Milner, Jerry (Jeanette) Foster and Kim (Brandon) Cherry; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
