She was born in Columbus, GA in 1929 to W.G. & Alberta Slocumb, where she lived throughout her childhood. She attended Jordan High School and in 1948 married Charlie P. Dickinson, her childhood sweetheart.
Myra and Charlie came to know Jesus in 1956 and were devoted Christians who cherished the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ. They were very active in their churches in the various places they lived, and took solace in knowing the Lord was watching over them. Charlie passed away in 1990 and Myra remained a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church in Columbus, GA until her passing.
Their Christian values informed every aspect of their life and molded them into the beloved people they were. Myra’s favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Myra was preceded in death by her husband Charlie P. Dickinson, her sister Jane F. Tweed, brothers W.G. Slocumb, T.J. Slocumb and Frank D. Slocumb, and her daughter Vicki Diane Person. Myra is survived by her son Mark T. Dickinson (Kimberly), grandchildren Scott McNatt (Jessica), Katie McNatt and Tim McNatt, great granddaughters Josie McNatt and Molly McNatt, sister-in-law Jean Slocumb and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Park Hill Cemetery Striffler-Hamby at 11:00am EST on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 4161 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA 31907. In lieu of flowers, donations to Rose Hill Baptist Church in Myra’s name are appreciated.
