Nancy C. Gibson (Priest), age 82, of Columbus, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 29th, 2024. A visitation for the family and friends of Nancy will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Columbus, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A graveside service will occur Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Ft Mitchell National Cemetery, 553 Highway 165, Fort Mitchell, Alabama 36875.
Nancy was born on January 13, 1942, in Columbus, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Nadine Jones. Nancy was a devout Christian and an active member of Columbus Independent Baptist Church for more than 45 years. During this time, she earned a Master of Religious Education from Faith Bible Theological Seminary. She used her degree to teach Elementary School at Edgewood Christian School until retiring. Nancy enjoyed gardening, antiquing, and old movies. Her “green thumb” will certainly be missed as she had a gift for growing things.
Nancy is survived by: her five children, Sheila (John) Hollar, Brenda (Phil) Craig, Sandra Gibson, Cindy Brooks and Dwayne, Richard H (Lisa) Gibson, Jr.; 15 Grandchildren, Christopher, Kyle, Johnny, Randi, Callie, Rosanna, Eric, Garrett, Cameron, Shannon, Halie, Kendal and Jake. In addition, Nancy has 20 great-grandchildren, and she is survived by her siblings Len Jones, Barbara Crider and Jeff Jones.
Nancy was proceeded in death by her husband of 39 years, Richard H Gibson, Sr., her mother Nadine Jones, her grandsons Steven Avery Gibson and Richard H Gibson, III.
Nancy’s legacy is her children.
