She lived in Columbus, Georgia, where she graduated from Jordan High School in 1982.
Norma devoted 25 years of hard work to Clearview BBQ, where her dedication was evident in every early morning and late night. She cared deeply about her work and the people around it, giving steady effort and faithful commitment day after day.
She shared 43 years of marriage with her husband, Thomas Jones. Norma was beloved and deeply cherished by those who knew her—patient in spirit, dependable in action, and the kind of person others naturally turned to. She was an amazing person, she had a gift for bringing warmth into a room; when things felt quiet or distant, she always made a joke hoping everyone would laugh.
Norma found comfort in simple joys: watching criminal investigation movies while enjoying her Three Musketeers and a cup of milk. A Christian at EdenChurch, she carried her faith with her and gave her heart to those who needed her.
Norma is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Jones; her sisters, Wanda Tompkins, Barbara Tompkins, and Rose Tompkins; her son, James Jones (Heather); her daughter, Christina Williams; her grandchildren, Jazya Williams, Katrayvia Williams, Norman James Jones, Allen Williams, Jessiman Williams, Tyesha Williams, Colby Jones, and Brayden Jones; as well as her great-grandson, JaQuaivious Williams.
She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Tompkins, and her mother, JacQueline Tompkins.
Norma often talked about wanting her house fixed, and she left too soon. In her honor, her family has decided it will be done—a lasting act of love and remembrance for a woman who spent her life caring for others.
