Norman was born on October 4, 1953 in Chicago Heights, Illinois; the son of Norman Keith Burgess, Sr. and Dorothy Marie Sandifer.
Norman was raised in Chicago Heights area, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a man of that who understood the importance of living life, one day at a time, but lived that day to the fullest. Norman was a owner/operator contracted through W.T.I. He was an excellent over the road truck driver, with a good record and a passion for safety. He drove many miles to ensure his family was taken care of and that they had the things they needed and wanted. Trucking and an incredible work ethic is something that has been shared through his family and will continue to be taught to future generations. He was a skilled mechanic and took time to teach family members the importance and skills needed to maintain your equipment so it doesn’t let you down when you need it. He was willing to help anyone in need, family, friends, or strangers, he was always willing to lend a hand. When Norman had time he would love to watch old TV shows or take on a project with friends or neighbors. He was skilled and enjoyed doing home repairs, especially when he was able to be with friends or family. He loved spending time with family, especially time with his grandchildren. When he was out driving he would look for routes that would take him past family to say hello and spend a little time together, they were family.
