

Patricia Lee Goodnight Batastini, 66, of Columbus, GA passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral mass will be 10 AM Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Frank Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. A Rosary will be said 6 PM Wednesday, April, 27, 2011 and visitation will follow at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel, 4071 Macon Road. Mrs. Batastini was born September 9, 1944 in Kokomo, IN, the daughter of Sharlot (Tom) Crowder and Harold (Dorothy) Goodnight. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold E. Goodnight, her step-father,Thomas Crowder, and grandchildren, Alexis Batastini, and Audrey, Ian, and Eli Faircloth. Mrs. Batastini graduated from Kokomo High School, class of 1962. She met M. Lee Batastini of Columbus, GA at Bunker Hill Air Force Base in Peru, IN on January 19, 1963. Her altruism began by fostering more than eighty children over the years. Additionally, she was also an avid animal lover and devoted much of her spare time to volunteering and fostering for the Claws and Paws Animal Rescue. Her selflessness continued as a member of administrative staff at Matthews Elementary School, Daniel Middle School and Double Churches Middle School. Her passonate, creative nature led to hobbies of arts and crafts, scrapbooking, and cross-stitching. She was never without a camera. Survivors include, her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, M. Lee Batastini; her mother, Sharlot Crowder of Kokomo, IN; three sons, Christopher (Kimberly) Batastini of Tyndall Air Force Base, Kevin Batastini of Columbus and Jeffrey Batastini of Memphis, TN; three daughters, Denise (John) Faircloth of Salem, AL, Paige (Matt) Hurst and Rebecca (Alan) Duncan both of Columbus; eleven grandchildren, Morgan Batastini, Christopher Mills, Jonathan Mills, Zachary Batastini, Trent Faircloth, Adrienne Hurst, Jeremy Hunt, Aaron Hunt, Zee Faircloth, Brylee Duncan and Jeffrey Batastini, Jr.; a sister, Debbie Malooley of Indianapolis, IN; many nieces and nephews. A heartfelt thanks to Sonya Hardin, Victoria Bullock, Kimberly Pickett, and the Intensive Care Unit of St. Francis Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Claws and Paws Animal Rescue, 1008 Ronnie Road, Buena Vista.
