Peggy Jane Peddy O’Neal, age 90, of Columbus, Georgia passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018. She was born the daughter of the late Tippo Wilie Peddy and Mary Matthews Peddy on October 11, 1928 in Columbus, Georgia.
Peggy attended Jordan High School, was a Varsity Cheerleader and graduated in 1945. In 1950, she married the love of her life, John William O’Neal Sr. and together they had two sons. Mrs. O’Neal was a long time member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and a member of the Golden Girls. She was a bookkeeper at Jordan Mills from 1950-1967. She loved watching the Georgia Tech Football and Swimming teams and enjoyed going to the River Centre. She also volunteered at Callaway from 1998-2015. She made friends everywhere she went, often saying she “never met a stranger” and always had fun saying “we are making memories.”
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and great niece, Natalie McClung. She is survived by her two sons, John (Carol) O’Neal and Tim (Rita) O’Neal; beloved niece Nancy McClung; seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler Hamby Mortuary in Columbus, Georgia. Family will receive friends and relatives on hour prior to funeral services. There will be a private entombment at Parkhill Cemetery.
