Philip Edward Cain, 77, of Fortson, Georgia, passed away on March 3, 2026, at Columbus Hospice House. He was born November 17, 1948, to the late Elisha Judkins Cain and Margaret Lucie Maroney Cain. Philip was a hard-working, honest, and devoted man who lived his life with steadfast purpose and deep love for those around him.
Philip will be remembered by his wife of 36 years, Lois Rastl Cain, and for the strong and loving family they built together. He is survived by his children, Brian P. Travis (Julie), Joshua E. Cain, Benjamin L. Travis, Scott A. Cain (Elizabeth), and Bonnie Travis McNeil (Darryl); his grandchildren, who called him “Big Daddy”, Kyndall Travis, Gage Hill, Dylan Cain, Scott “Junior” Cain, Leila Cain, Isaac Cain, Darryl “Jack” McNeil and Carter McNeil; and a great-grandchild, Brooklynn Cain. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Ashworth Cain and Jean Cain Jones (Scott); cousins Hank Isaacs and Martha Gainer (Mike); first wife Shelia Cain (Pat), along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Philip was preceded in death by his parents Elisha Judkins Cain and Margaret Lucie Maroney Cain, and by his sister, Elisa Judkins Cain Powell.
Philip was an avid outdoorsman. He found great pleasure sharing his wealth of knowledge on hunting, fishing, shooting and re-loading ammunition. He was a great story teller, remembering names, dates and details. He loved his church, St. Andrews Presbyterian, and loved music and singing, even if he had to make up the words.
He worked for many years as a regional manager in the blood/plasma business and retired from Service Casket Company where he made many friendships assisting funeral service providers all over Georgia and Alabama.
Above all, Philip loved his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church or Columbus Hospice on Moon Road.
