

Philip Stephens Jr., 89, passed away on May 24, 2026. Born June 2, 1936, Philip graduated from Columbus High in Columbus, Georgia, and later earned his degree as a Georgia Tech Graduate—an accomplishment that remained a point of pride throughout his life.
Philip was an entrepreneur by trade and the owner of Stephens Auto Glass and Paint. Through his work, he built a life marked by steady commitment and purpose, earning the respect of those who knew him and the lasting appreciation of those he served.
Beyond his professional life, Philip found meaning in the simple, enduring joys of home. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening, and he took special care in looking after his family—an expression of the love for which he will be remembered. A devoted fan, he followed the Atlanta Braves with enthusiasm and also remained a loyal Georgia Tech fan.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Philip Stephens Sr.; his sister, Martha Anne Clapp; and his granddaughter, Sara Robinson, who passed in 2007.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Joyce Stephens; his daughters, Jennifer Gay and Rebecca Miller; his three granddaughters, Lindsey, Courtney, and Brittany; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Visitation will be at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907 on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM followed by a service at 3:00 PM in the Fisher Chapel of Striffler Hamby Mortuary.
