Phyllis passed away in Columbus, Georgia where she lived most of her life. She was born on January 8, 1942 in Clewiston, Florida to Broward and Gladys Stanford. Phyllis graduated from Clewiston High School. Soon after, she married and started her family. For many years, Phyllis babysat and worked as a paraprofessional in Muscogee County.
Phyllis Butler was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Butler Sr.; her parents, Broward and Gladys Stanford; her brother, Dale Stanford; son-in-law, Pete Gibson; granddaughter, Susan Gibson; and grandson, Isaiah Westbrook.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Rhonda Westbrook, Dana (David) Westbrook, Kim Jarvis, and Roy Butler Jr. She had 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, her two sisters, Jan Bamburg and Sandy McClenithan; and her beloved fur babies.
Phyllis was a great cook and delighted in blessing those around her with nicknames. She enjoyed phone call chats, watching Alabama football, and Nascar races. Phyllis also enjoyed reading biographies, shopping, and loved listening to Elvis’ songs and country music.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 18, 2025 from 6:00-8:00PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. There will be an additional visitation on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 1:00-2:00PM. The Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00PM and will conclude at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907 in the “Chapel of the Pines” Mausoleum.
The pallbearers for Phyllis Butler are as follows: Michael Jarvis, Scott Gibson, Dave Westbrook, David Ray Westbrook, Michael Dennison, and Fred Morgan.
Phyllis will be deeply missed by her family. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
