She was born in post World War II Italy in August of 1946. Pier came to the United States at the age of fourteen and was adopted by her parents Anna and Bill Black. Her education was completed at Jordan Vocational High School, Pier’s college career was with Columbus College where she completed her BS in Education and later obtained her MS in Education with a T-6 Certification from the University of Georgia.
Pier married her husband, Bruce Clyne, in 1978 she traveled with his military career throughout the United States and Germany. Where her husband was stationed, Pier was teaching. She retired in 2006 from teaching and so began her Crafter’s career. She made Christmas ornaments and Old Time Santa Clauses. Pier loved to travel and some of her favorite places were Sorrento, Italy, Istanbul, Turkey and the Rhine River Valley in Germany. Pier was an active member of the American Italian Association of Montgomery, Alabama until her passing on Sunday.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Bruce Clyne; her brother Gary Black and her niece and nephew in Bologna, Italy.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday July 14, 2022 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in the St. Elmo Room.
