Columbus, Georgia - Rebecca Parish, age 70, resident of Columbus, died on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital. Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Parish, daughter of the late Olney Joseph Brown and Marjorie May Brown, was born December 30, 1942 in Salisbury, North Carolina. She graduated from Boyden High School, Salisbury, North Carolina in 1961. After high school, Mrs. Parish served her country honorably in the U.S. Army. After leaving the military, she worked in the Muscogee County School system for a few years and then began a career at Martin Army Hospital, Fort Benning, Georgia where she faithfully served until her retirement. Mrs. Parish was Protestant by faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W Parish; a sister, Emily May Brown; and a brother, John Fredrick Brown. Mrs. Parish is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Parish of Columbus; one son, Brian Parish of Columbus; two sisters, Helen B. Rhyne of Salisbury, North Carolina and Maryanne Peele and her husband Clayton of Mocksville, North Carolina; one brother, Olney "Buddy" Brown, Jr. and his wife Lynda of Greer, South Carolina; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
