She retired in 2010 after 25 years with Synovus, originally CB&T.
She loved reading, gardening, interior decorating, and watching her favorite team, the Atlanta Braves, play baseball.
Rebecca is survived by her daughter, Melissa Kirkland; son, James Dowding; grandchildren, Blaine and Addilyn Dowding; and husband, Bruce Starling. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Tucker; sisters, Betty Dunn and Karen Mercer (Tom); and step-sister, Brenda Maynard.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Horan; step-father, George Horan; sisters, Lani Tucker and Rosemary Baker; and brother, William Tucker.
A visitation will be held in the St. Elmo Room at Striffler Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd. Columbus GA 31907 on Friday September 18, 2026 at 10:00 AM, with a graveside service to follow at 11:00 AM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd. Columbus GA 31907.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her name.
