Richard "Pete" Money

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. 31907 with Dr. Mike Stevens officiating. Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends this afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be Rick Wayne Money, Charles Money, Ralph Carroll, Wade Wiggins, Raymond Martin and James Ricks, honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Thompson, Kenneth Hyde and Donald Forsythe.

Pete was born in Abbeville, AL. on September 7, 1932 to the late Loris Herbert Money and Ruth Baggett Money. He has lived in Columbus since 1940 and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He was retired from Northfolk- Southern Railroad with over 30 years of service. He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army and was known for his outstanding character and generosity. Pete was preceded in death by his wife Joan Carroll Money.

Survivors include his son Rick Wayne Money and wife Denise , a granddaughter Bri Money and two great grandchildren all of Nashville, TN. two nephews, Gary and Steven Money, a niece, Darlene Money of Florida and many “Money” cousins of Columbus. Also of Columbus, five stepdaughters, many grandchildren and great great grandchildren who lovingly helped with his care. Pete will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by many.
