Robert Earl Slaughter, 74, of Columbus, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, July 5, 2013 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907 with Reverend Ricky Ward officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Robert was born November 5, 1938 in Columbus, GA, son of the late John B. and Martha Burns Slaughter. He was the president of Slaughter’s Discount Cars. Robert loved to be with family and loved to work out. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one brother, John W. Slaughter. Survivors include his daughter, Robin E. Ward and her husband, Ricky; his two sons, Ricky E. Slaughter and Bradford Slaughter, Sr.; his step father, Clyde R. Gregory; his three grandchildren, Jennifer Kennefick, Justin Bryce Greer and Bradford Slaughter, Jr.; his two great grandchildren; his brother, Clyde W. Gregory.

I met Robert many years ago when I worked for Trust Company Bank, in the Indirect Lending Department - working with him on the financing end of the car business.
