Ronald Grant Brown

July 14, 1940July 11, 2013

Ronald G. Brown, 72, passed away on July 11, 2013.  Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 15, 2013 in Parkhill Cemetery with Pastor Buddy Jones officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA.  The family will greet friends on Sunday, July 14, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Brown was born July 14, 1940 to the late Jacob and Verna Brown in Columbus, GA.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was retired from Civil Service at Ft. Benning after many years of service.

Our dad was a stubborn old man, a fighter, too independent and never wanted anyone to make a fuss over him, but we did.  The past six months have been trying and difficult, especially for our aunt and his daughter.  Thursday, our dad met the peace and comfort that has for so long escaped him.  It’s comforting for us to know he is no longer in pain or suffering, but is now with peace and in a better place.  We love you, dad.

Survivors include his four daughters, Shanna Brown of Columbus, GA, Bobbie James of Millbrook, AL, Christy Ladner of Columbus, GA and Alicia Lawrence of Oceanside, CA; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family.

Please visit to express condolences.

I am so sorry about Ronald. He was my cousin and I was just a year younger than he. I think you might have met me at one of the family reunions. We missed you guys this year and really did not know what he was so ill. He was always a nice guy and sort of shy even when we were young. Sorry we did not know about his illness but know that he is a better place. Hope you and the rest of the family are doing ok. Keep in touch with us and maybe we can see you next year. I live in Sugar Hill, GA (North of Atlanta). Take care. Sara and Don Lee
