

Ronald Glen Curenton Sr., born on April 11, 1949, in Columbus, Georgia, passed away on January 8, 2026, at the age of 76. He was the beloved son of Avnar and Martha Curenton. Known for being hard-working and family-oriented, Ronald's life was filled with dedication and love for his family and country.
Ronald attended Columbus Technical College, laying the foundation for his future endeavors as a maintenance technician. He served his country with honor in the United States Army as an E-4 helicopter mechanic during the Vietnam War. His military service was a testament to his commitment and bravery.
Outside of his professional life, Ronald was passionate about woodworking, building, and gardening. He was an avid fisher and hunter, and his skills as a carpenter were well-regarded. Ronald enjoyed spending time at the beach and having cookouts with family, and everyone knew his love for classic country music. He was also a motorcycle rider and a traveler, frequently attending bike rallies.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Durwood Curenton, as well as his parents Avnar and Martha Nell Curenton.
Ronald is survived by his three children, Ronald Glen Curenton Jr. (Melanie), April Curenton Nelson, and Portia Curenton Sweeney (Tripp), along with his brother Eddie Curenton. His grandchildren include, Logan, Alyson, and Alyssa Curenton, Jasmine Alvarez, Autum and Savannah Nelson, as well as Alexandrea, Trent, and Maddison Sweeney.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, located at 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907, on January 11, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Ronald Curenton will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his hard work, and his beloved nature.
