Rosemarie “Rose” Anna Clough

Born in Bremervörde, Germany, on December 16, 1934, Rose spent her childhood with her mother and grandmother during World War II. In 1958, she came to New York and began working for writer Sidney Sheldon. She later traveled with him to California, where she served as governess to his daughter. While in California, Rose met Frank Daugherty, a chauffeur for Desi Arnaz Jr., and had two children.

In 1968, Rose married Ernest Lloyd Clough, an Army serviceman. Together, they raised his four children and her two children, and welcomed their daughter into the family in 1968. After Ernest retired from the Army, the family moved to Georgia, where Rose devoted herself to raising their children. She also achieved a goal she had held for many years: becoming a U.S. citizen.

Rose’s aunt, Anna Fischer, who had sponsored her immigration to America, later joined the family household. After the children were grown, Rose and Ernest welcomed family and friends to “Oma and Opa’s house.” Rose and “Tanta Anni” became known for preparing wonderful German dishes for their gatherings, along with Opa’s steak and crab legs.

Rose was a caring, giving, and nurturing person with a big heart. She will be remembered for the love she gave her family and the warmth she brought to the people around her. In her final days, some of Rose’s thoughts turned to her mother, Martha Bremer, and her grandmother, Wilamine Bremer.

Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest; her children Greg, Mike, and Scott; her grandson Jonathan; and her siblings Christian Bremer and Heinz Bremer.

She is survived by her sister, Wilma Bremer; her children Jackie (Leslie), Robert (Lesa), Heidi (Greg), and Cindy (Rush); and her grandchildren Chris, David, Julie, Elizabeth, Jason, Jennifer, Angela, Jessica, Timothy, Todd, Nolan, Austin, Burt, and Nicholas.

The family will receive friends and loved ones at 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Greater Life Church, 305 Old Grey Rock Road, Midland, Georgia.
