August 25, 1928 – June 3, 2021
Mittie “Ruth” Berry, 92, – (August 25th 1928- June 3rd 2021) of Columbus, GA passed away peacefully Thursday, June 3rd, 2021. Surrounded by her family, listening to her favorite song, ‘Go Rest High on That Mountain’, at the home of her beloved niece, Elaine Tanner….Ruth was called home. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 8th, 2021 at 1:00pm at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, GA. Ruth Berry was born on August 25th, 1928 in Rome, GA to the late Claude & Dora Worthington. She was the youngest of 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Ruth was married to William Carl Berry (August 18th, 1926- September 8th, 2012) for over 65 years. The couple were blessed with 4 children, William Stan Berry, Kenneth Larry Berry, David Ronald Berry and Carlton Dudley Berry. She was a member of Waldrop Baptist Church where you could find her every Sunday for Bible Study and most importantly, social hour. She enjoyed spending her time volunteering at Callaway Gardens and Doctors Hospital where she received many awards and was well respected for her years of service and devotion. After the passing of her son, David Ronald (July 16, 1954- April 14th, 1987), she raised her two grandsons, David Nicholas and Joshua Nathaniel Berry. She was a proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Ruth enjoyed the little things like peanuts in her bottled Coca-Cola, anything chocolate, and enjoying coffee on the porch while watching the hummingbirds fly around. Ruth would read anything she could get her hands on and watch every tennis match or baseball game, no matter who was playing. She never met a stranger or a Peluso’s pizza she didn’t like. Ruth’s greatest love was her family, and she was loved and admired in return by her children, grandchildren, family and countless friends. We can only imagine how excited she is to be reunited with her husband and two sons. Her infectious laughter, witty sense of humor, and most importantly, her loving and kind spirit will be greatly missed by all!
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to: The Agape Hospice Foundation P.O. Box 801087 Acworth, GA 30101 In memory of Ruth Berry. Arrangements are entrusted to Striffler-Hamby.

I will always remember going to Ruth and Bill’s house for family reunions and get togethers. She was the absolute best hostess and so very loving to ensure everyone felt welcome and invited into her home. Rest In Peace, dear lady.
