Funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Edgewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby in Columbus with Pastor Wayne Scarbrough officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 in the St. Elmo room.
Mrs. Ruth was born in Tennessee on November 23, 1925 to the late George H. Blalock and Eula Mae Warhurst Blalock. She was faithful in reading the Holy Bible and serving our Lord Jesus Christ and to share her faith with her family. Mrs. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordon Douglas, son Richard Carter, daughter-in-law Mary Ann Carter (Tommy), two brothers and five sisters.
Her legacy is to be carried on by her husband, Mr. Allen Metzger; son, Thomas “Tommy” Carter; five grandchildren, Michael (Leann) Carter , Stacey C. (Shane) Froehlich, Brian Carter, Sam Carter, and Joe Petty ; sister, Georgine Iloff; brother, Robert (Becky) Blalock; nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
