Mrs. Ruth B. Fields, age 87, passed away on August 8, 2011. Graveside services will be held at Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA on Wednesday, August 10 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Tommy McConnell officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:00 AM with a procession to the cemetery to follow.
Mrs. Fields was born on October 25, 1923 to the late Bill Bryant and Bertha Baggett Bryant in Sylacauga, AL. She enjoyed the outdoors and fishing, as well as spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. Mrs. Fields was preceded in death by her husband, Henry I. Fields, Sr., a son, Thomas Lee “Tye” Fields, a sister, Joyce Bowers and a brother, Herbert Bryant.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Henry I. “Ike” and Gloria Fields, Jr. of Columbus; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Fields of Columbus; four grandchildren, Traci Jones (Dan), Tim Fields (Katina), Trey Fields and Caitlyn Fields; six great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Jones, Abel Jones, Hannah Fields, Haleigh Fields, T.J. Fields and Lynsie Turville.
