

Sara Imogene “Jean” Flynn, age 87, resident of Columbus, died on Sunday, February, 5, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 11 a.m. with Reverend Roy White officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. Mrs. Flynn, daughter of the late James Emmett Bunn and Mildred Virginia Massey Bunn, was born April 24, 1924 in Griffin, GA. She attended Wynnton Elementary School and graduated from Jordan High School. Mrs. Flynn was a member of Edgewood United Methodist Church and had devoted many years of faithful service at Kress; Southern Bell Telephone Co; 1st National Bank; and CB&T. She had lived in Columbus since childhood and was a gracious and loving southern mother, grandmother “Gaga,” and Aunt. Mrs. Flynn was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Miller Flynn; two sisters, Gloria O’Neal and Virginia Lord. She is survived by one daughter, Amy Elizabeth Flynn of Columbus; one son, James Dennis Flynn and his wife Jo of Midland, GA; two grandsons, Jay Flynn and his wife April and Josh Flynn; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends; and her beloved grand-cats. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to PAWS of Columbus, 4900 Milgen Road, Columbus, GA 31907 or Allied Cats of Columbus, 1343 Peacock Ave, Columbus, GA 31906.
