

Shirley A. Greathouse December 10, 1945 - June 7, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA— Shirley A. Greathouse of Columbus, GA passed away at her home on June 7, 2010. Funeral Services will be held June 9, 2010 at Stiffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4701 Macon Road , Columbus, GA 31907 with Interment at Park Hill Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. with Gene Ritchie officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 for all the family and friends that she has loved through the years. Shirley was born on December 10, 1945 in Columbus, GA. She was the daughter of the late Bill and Margaret Barron of Columbus, GA and the late Wilma Faye Barron (step-mother). Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Shelby (or Shelbo) Greathouse of Columbus, GA with a lot of love between the two. Shirley raised 6 children and loved them with all her heart. Children and their spouses are Terri Sheffield Smith of Smiths, AL, Kathy and Richard Truitt from Redding, CA, Belinda Burns, Randy and Rhonda Greathouse, Kris Greathouse, and Dewayne Greathouse all from Columbus, GA. She had one sister, Juanita Woods from Arlington, TX. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and two nephews. Shirley was raising her grandson, Austin Greathouse, since birth for 10 years of his life. He was her heart and she was his. Through her years, she worked as a cake decorator for Winn Dixie for 17 years and finished her career with TSYS the last 7 years in the Fed Ex Department before her illness. Shirley's hobbies included sewing, watching her children and grandchildren play ball where she was a great fan. Another love she had was following her husband with his gospel quartet for many years being an independent baptist by faith. The Greathouse family would like to extend a special thank you to those who have been supportive from the beginning of her illness until the end. Support from Pat Ricinto, Will Smith, Ricky Morrison, Jason Krysler, James Holden, Jerry Clark and Barbara Rushing is greatly appreciated in working with the family in assisting the family in maintaining job responsibilities during the past 4 difficult years. A very, very, very special thanks to Michelle Ashe for the comfort and the love that she showed through this period.
