Shirley Patterson, age 80, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024. A visitation for the family and friends of Shirley will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia. Following the visitation a graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia.
Shirley was born on June 15, 1943 in Columbus, Georgia: the daughter of Alfie and Willie Peters. She graduated from Jordan High School. Shirley married James Patterson in 1959: he passed in 2006. She was a former member of Eastside Assembly of God and was most recently at Roman Internal Medicine. Shirley enjoyed spending time with family, playing guitar, and singing with her family. For several years, she was active in political elections. She found pleasure in planting flowers in her garden, tending to them, or creating various types of arts and crafts. Shirley loved spending time at the beach, especially when she was with her family.
Shirley is preceded in death by: her husband, James Patterson; her parents; and five of her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include: her daughters, Barbara (Rick) Church, Angelia (Gannon) Tharpe; grandchildren, Rachel (Danny) Church Clark, Seth (Kelsey) Church, Trey Weaver; a sister, Marilyn (Mike) Reid; a brother, Willie Fred (Sandra) Peters; and five great grandchildren.
