Shirley Temple Burleson Phillips

September 29, 1935-August 27, 2017

COLUMBUS, GA- Shirley Temple Phillips, 81, of Columbus, GA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Columbus Hospice House.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA, with Dr. Mike Stevens officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, August 30, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Phillips was born September 29, 1935 in Johnson City, TN, daughter of the late George and Vicie Crowe Burleson. She served as a Crossing Guard with the Muscogee County School District and retired after 20 years of dedicated service. Mrs. Phillips was a member of The Celebration Place. We will remember her sweet spirit, but her memory will live forever in our hearts.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, MSG (Ret.) Marion E. Phillips and a daughter, Sandy Phillips.

Survivors include her two daughters, Susie Phillips and her partner, Mara Ford, and Debbie Phillips; two grandchildren, Melissa Tucker and her husband, Lee, and Christopher Fort; four great grandchildren, Austin Melendez, Alyssa Melendez, Layla Tucker, and Kendell Johansen; numerous other family members and friends.
