Steven Lamar Massey

Mr. Massey was born August 31, 1953 in Columbus, Georgia to the late William Odell Massey and Dorothy Murdock Massey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother Stanley Daryl Massey. Mr. Massey was retired as District Manager for the Georgia Lottery. He was previously employed by Goolsby Foods and County Market.

Steve was known for his quick wit and loved hosting family and friends for cookouts and get togethers. He always made sure to have a pot of boiled peanuts simmering on the stove. He had a kind spirit and was always there to help out when family or friends needs arose. He had a special love for his many fur babies. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan and enjoyed listening to oldies music. Most of all he loved his family and providing for their happiness.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Marie Massey; mother in law: Inez M. Storey; sister in laws: Anne (Tommy) Snider, Lynn (Tommy) Edmonds; nieces and nephews: Leila (Robert Tramel) Williams, Brittney and Sydney Williams, Donnie Edmonds, Amy Snider, Melissa Edmonds, Hunter Janes, Albree Byrd, Robert (Breann) Edmonds, Evan Edmonds, and Nolan Edmonds; one brother, Alan (Carmen) Massey, and a sister, Myra (Tom) Converse.

Visitation will be from 5-7pm, on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA.

Graveside services will be10:00 am, on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Parkhill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paws Humane, Animal Ark Rescue or Columbus Purrs n Paws.
