Sydney Buford Broom

Sydney Grace Broom, age 73, passed away on December 13, 2011. Graveside services will be held in Parkhill Cemetery on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Steve King officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00- 7:00 PM.

Mrs. Broom was born on May 22, 1938 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Walter S. and Grace Buford. She attended Gentian Baptist Church. Mrs. Broom was retired from the Muscogee County School District with over 30 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will truly be missed. Mrs. Broom was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Broom, a sister, Jean Buford and a brother, Gordon Buford.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Stacey Broom of Columbus and David and Diane Broom of Columbus; her daughter, Cindy Parmer of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Wesley, Eric, Rachel, Aaron, Stephen, Ryne and Sara; and several nieces and nephews.
