

Sylvia Wilson, a beloved and cherished member of her community, passed away on January 6, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on December 14, 1950, Sylvia was known for her gentle disposition and deep love for her family and friends.
Sylvia dedicated 31 years of her life working as a personnel clerk at Muscogee Manor before she retired. Her commitment and dedication to her work were admired by all who knew her.
In her personal life, Sylvia had a passion for crossword puzzles and enjoyed listening to Bruno Mars. She loved all animals and dreamed of saving them all. Her family fondly remembers the slumber parties she hosted for her grandchildren and her famous potato salad, a highlight at family cookouts. Despite many attempts to replicate it, no one could quite capture her special touch.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney C. Hammond and Leopoldine E. Hammond, her husband, James N. Wilson, and her son, James S. Wilson. She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Wilson (Michelle) and Tracy Crays (Dale); her grandsons, Tyler Crays (Dianna) and Justin Crays (Brenna); her granddaughters, Cailey Woods (Mark), Britney Bearden (David), and Taylor Wilson; and her great-grandchildren, Payton, Jackson, and Caleb Stambaugh, Ma'Kayla, Quinton, and Kameron Wilson, Gabriel Rodriquez, Brinley and Aubrey Crays, Dean Crays, Averi and baby boy Woods. She is also survived by her sister, Sandra Clauser.
A visitation will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in the St. Elmo Room, located at 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907, on January 16, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at the same location in the Fisher Chapel on January 17, 2026, at 11:00 am. Following the funeral service, Sylvia will be laid to rest at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907.
Sylvia's kindness, warmth, and love for her family and community will be deeply missed.
