Teresa graduated from Jordan High School and went on to earn many certification's through Columbus Technical college. Her dedication to learning and to building practical skills was evident throughout her life, including obtaining certifications n diesel mechanic and refrigerator/ microwave repair technician—work that reflected both determination and steady commitment.
A devoted Baptist Christian, Teresa gave of herself through volunteering for churches and living her faith with sincerity. She also found joy in arts and crafts, and in the simple, meaningful moments that brought people together. Above all, Teresa was beloved for the care she showed to those closest to her, and for the love she held for her family. She was a grandmother to 8 grandchildren, a role she cherished deeply.
Teresa is preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine Rollins and Henry Lynn Gunter. She is survived by her two sons, James Ellis Widener and Justin Edward Whitlock; and her brothers, Mike Gunter and Ernest Gunter.
Visitation for Family and Friends will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Fisher Chapel, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907, on June 5, 2026, at 2:00 pm. The Funeral Service will follow at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Fisher Chapel, on June 5, 2026, at 3:00 pm. Committal will take place at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907, on June 5, 2026.
