

Thomas Bussey Cunningham, 85, of Midland, GA passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Canterbury Rehabilitation. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, with Reverend Robert Beckhum and Reverend Dick Reese officiating. Burial will follow at Parkhill. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Cunningham, son of the late Annie Thomas Bussey and Leon W. Cunningham, was born April 30, 1930 in Columbus, GA. He served his country honorably in the U. S. Air Force serving one tour in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Cunningham was retired, with his last position held as a Purchasing Agent with Communicorp. He was a lifelong member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Mr. Cunningham was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Columbus, Jaycees and the Georgia Oilman’s Association. He was a Board Member at the Valley Rescue Mission. Mr. Cunningham was the Band Captain at Auburn University and a member of Columbus Civic Chorale. He loved his family very much and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Cunningham enjoyed fishing, horticulture; most importantly was a huge Auburn fan and watch them playing football.
Other than his parents, Mr. Cunningham is preceded in death by his sister, Martha Anne Cunningham and brother, Dr. Leon W. Cunningham, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jeanne F. Cunningham of Midland, GA; daughters Mary Beth Cunningham of Aberdeen, NJ, Catherine Clark (Steve) of Suwanee, GA and Jeanne C. Havard (Byron) of Navarre, FL; grandchildren Catie Clark, Matthew Clark and Sarah Havard; his beloved fur baby “George”; best friend Greg Bentley; other relatives and friends.
