Tom was born August 11, 1961 in Massachusetts. He grew up in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Tom was an active member of the Boy Scouts in Elementary School, was a drummer in his Jr. High School marching band and was a Varsity Letterman in his High School Baseball, Basketball and Football teams. After high school, Tom served his country in the United States Air Force. He then spent more than thirty years traveling the United States as a Superintendent/ Project Manager in Construction, which included spending a year in Atlanta as a Project Manager building the Olympic Village in anticipation of the 1996 Olympics. He coached Babe Ruth baseball for more than 13 years and was a softball Coach for the years that his daughters played.
Tom enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, working in the yard, fine art painting, teaching his granddaughters any talent he could pass down, telling stories, playing fetch with his dog Griffin, listening to music (of all kinds) and reading his Bible. He was a devout Christian, with remarkable faith, a member of his church, originally Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church and upon returning to live in Columbus after 15 years away started attending Alethia on Blackmon Road. Tom was a loving Father, Grandfather (his favorite people called him Poppy), Brother, Uncle and friend. He was strongminded, soft hearted, intelligent, devoted, passionate, talented, athletic, competitive, honest, loving and kind and will be forever remembered to all who knew and loved him.
Tom was preceded in death by his Dad, Herman “Dave” L. Davidson, his mom, who he cared for until her passing, Maxine “Toni” L. Davidson, and his brother-in-law David Norris. Tom is survived by his daughters April Barrington (Mike) and Amber Davidson, his two granddaughters Penny E. Barrington and Vivian L. Barrington, his two ex-wives with whom he remained friends, Penny L. Davidson and Cassie Tate, his two sisters, Andrea Zaccardi (Zac) and Suzette Norris, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, especially his best friend who was like a brother of 50+ years, George Foote.
Tom will be laid to rest in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery in Alabama.
