Timothy Leroy Tramel, 56, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. Tim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM with one of his best friends Elder James (Bug) Eiland officiating. For the safety of all attending, the family requests wearing of a face covering while socially distancing.
Tim was born on April 13, 1964 in Elmhurst, Illinois to the late Bettie Frances Ward and Tommy Newman Tramel. His family moved to the South when Tim was a small child. Tim attended Wesley Heights Elementary School, Daniel Junior High of Columbus, and Smiths Station High School with many years of perfect attendance.
He married Naoko Hamagami on March 6, 1998. Together they made Columbus, Georgia their home. Tim loved his family, motorcycle and classic rock dearly.
He worked at MIDAS, Spanky’s Garage, JAY TOYOTA before opening his own shop Tim’s Foreign Car Service. Tim was a mechanic extraordinaire, proud to be certified as an ASE Master Automobile Technician and TOYOTA Master Technician. He loved working on cars, especially engines.
He was a survivor, receiving a kidney and pancreas transplant in 2000 and a prosthetic leg in 2017. His family sincerely thanks countless medical professionals in Columbus and Atlanta for their service and being frontline workers during this pandemic. He was very proud of his prosthetic leg.
He leaves his loving memory to be cherished by his wife, Naoko; his children, Susan (Aaron), Tim, and Cade; his grandchildren, Blake and Emma; his siblings Terry Turkal, Shari (Robert) Rivera, Robert (Leila) Tramel, Tommy (Terri) Tramel and Diane (Mohammed) Shleibak; beloved cousin Ebbie (Bob) Tompkins, many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Tim always tried to help people. In that spirit, in lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made to Limbs for Life, National Kidney Foundation, or local homeless shelters.
