Ursula (Probst) Metsinger, age 79, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020. Graveside Services will be at Fort Benning Cemetery. Ursula was born November 22, 1940 in Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany. Ursula came to the United States and married SSG (Ret) Dean Metsinger on March 14, 1964 in Cusseta, GA.
Our Oma was a loyal friend to everyone. She was supportive and loving whenever you talked to her. She lived her life loving others as Jesus did and never failed to give encouragement after a long day. She was strong-willed, a great listener, and a problem solver. She loved her family more than anything and was always ready to listen and give advice. She loved celebrating others’ accomplishments and cooking them a good meal with a cake for dessert. We learned to always stay true to ourselves and what you believe, to put others first, and be patient. She modeled what it means to love the Lord with all your heart and depend on Him no matter what the circumstance. We learned to take our shoes off at the door and to always wash our hands right away. Oma loved to laugh and her laughter was contagious. She loved telling and listening to funny stories. Silly grandchildren always made her laugh. Oma left a legacy of unconditional love. She taught us all to take care of what the Lord has given you, never take it for granted, and to enjoy the little things. She left a legacy of laugher and happiness. She always said “Everyday is a good day because the Lord is with me”. We can all lean on this truth in both hard and good times. Oma would want us all to feel loved and believe in this truth with all our hearts. Ursula was a member of St. Mathew Lutheran Church in Columbus, Georgia.
Ursula is survived by her son, Bryan Dean (Leslie) Metsinger; and five grandchildren, Grace Metsinger, Kathryn Metsinger, Landon Metsinger, Paige Atkinson, and Kayla McDonald.
Ursula was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Landon Metsinger, and her mother, Franziska Behlert.
