Vera was born February 11, 1945 in Columbus, Georgia; the daughter of Thomas Benjamin “Bud” Carter and Dessie Mae Plymale Carter. Vera was a member of the Jordan High School Class of 1964. Vera was previously married to David Mainor and was previously married to William Spann. Vera had a wonderful sense of humor and it served her well throughout her life along with her quick wit. She retired from Dolly Madison after over 20 years of service. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society. She found peace and enjoyment in living a life that was uncomplicated and rich in simplicity. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her many friends and her large family. Vera understood love. She loved with all the resources she could muster, especially her time and financially, to those she loved. She had a warm heart, she knew of the importance of loving yourself, and of loving God. If you came to her house there was always something to eat, no one ever left hungry. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed cooking for her family and enjoyed teaching them how to cook, especially how to cook biscuits. She knew how to and taught others how to live within their means and to appreciate the simple things in life. Vera loved her home and family. The love she felt for them were second only to her Love of God. My brother Roy Page married Ophelia Carter when Vera and I were about 5 years old, we became fast friends. I loved the Carter family❤️ It was a joy to visit during the Summer. At around 12 yes old Vera was in a body cast for at least 3 months. I visited every week and brought get well cards. I stayed by her bed and we played games and laughed and put puzzles together. When we were starting our teens, after getting out of our bath, and in pj's her Mom would catch us running around and grab us to pinch our nipples, she always told us it would make them grow bigger. We would run away giggling. Later on , we went on some double dates. I will miss her so much, and yes she did have a wonderful sense of humor. I'm so sorry for your loss, she was so proud of all her children. Please give Cornelia a special hug from me and tell her I love her. The Carter's were a very special family.

Aunt Vera was a loving woman who always showed her support at my concerts and left an open invitation for anyone to come and share a meal and a good story.
