Virginia Wells Benefield

A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 3:00PM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM in the Wildwood Room of Striffler-Hamby. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Columbus Hospice at www.columbushospice.com .

Virginia Wells Benefield was born on April 6, 1935 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Alma Moore Wells and Johnny Hugh Wells. She was married to the late James David Benefield, Sr. Mrs. Benefield known to her family as “Maw Maw” was a homemaker, great cook and very devoted to her family.

Survivors include her children, James David Benefield, Jr. of Columbus and Cindy Heath and her husband Sidney of Fortson, GA. three grandchildren, Shaun (Amanie) Benefield-Bussey, Jamie Grochowski and Brent Benefield, two step grandchildren, Timothy Heath and Hayley Heath, and seven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Virginia’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Columbus Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion.
