Virginia Rose Maddox

A private graveside service for family will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM in Parkhill Cemetery with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating.

Virginia was born on December 30, 1927 in Five Points, Alabama to the late Mary Higgins Sands and Percy Sands. She was a graduate of Auburn University and former record keeper at the Columbus Consolidated Government. Even though she had a Bachelor’s Degree she enjoyed being a homemaker. Virginia was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Seaborn Maddox and her first husband, William W. Culpepper.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Warren (John) of Columbus, Georgia; sons: Bruce Culpepper (Joanne) of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Mike Culpepper of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Mark Culpepper (Carrie) of Columbus, Georgia; a brother, John Sands (Alice) of LaGrange, Georgia; twelve grandchildren: Grant Culpepper, Jill Culpepper, Bill Culpepper, Mark Culpepper, Jr., Tina Muckel, the late James Cole, Mandy Culpepper, Jason Culpepper, Brandon Marks, and Nick Marks; and six great grandchildren.
