Walburga Gubisch Ahlquist

Midland, Georgia- Walburga "Wally" Ahlquist, age 89, resident of Midland, GA., died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends, Wednesday, July 23, 2014.

According to Striffler-Hamby, funeral services are scheduled Monday, July 28, 2014, 10:00am, at The Church of the Holy Family. A burial will follow at Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, on Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 5:00-7:00pm.

Mrs. Ahlquist, daughter of the late Johann Gubisch and Therese Schmittinger Gubisch, was born on February 20, 1925 in Munich, Germany.

She was married for 53 years to Folke Anselm Ahlquist until his death in October 2004. Mrs. Ahlquist retired from NAF Finance office at Fort Benning after many years of faithful service.

She is survived by one daughter, Eva Cooper and her husband David of Cataula, GA.; one son, Folke Ahlquist and his wife Gayla of Midland, GA.; four grandchildren, Alicia Rich and her husband Richie, John Cooper and his wife Krissy, Michael Cooper and his wife Lindsey, and Jason Ahlquist. Mrs. Ahlquist is also survived by five great grandchildren, Morgan Rich, Harrison Rich, Jackson Rich, Maddox Cooper and Julia Cooper
