Wilbur Allen

Wilbur Gene Allen, of Columbus, GA, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Gentiva Hospice. Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, October 14, 2016 in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA 31907 at 11:30 am with Reverend Rodney Porter officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am – 11:30 am at Striffler-Hamby and a reception will follow the funeral in the Mill Room for friends and family.

Mr. Allen, son of the late Labon Paschal Allen and Nancy Banks Allen, was born February 4, 1928 in Columbus, Georgia. He graduated from Jordan Vocational High School in 1944 and attended college at both Georgia Southwestern College and Auburn University. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and in the Navy Reserve thereafter. Mr. Allen was a Residential and Commercial Real Estate Builder, Broker and Developer in Columbus his entire life. He served as President of the Columbus Board of Realtors, Co-Founder of Muscogee Land Investment Co. and Wilbur Allen Realty Co., and was a member of the Muscogee Lions Club and Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church.

Mr. Allen was an avid hunter, fisherman, and he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie Britton Allen; son, Paschal Gene Allen (Susan) of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Pamela Sue Allen Parmer of Fayetteville, GA; grandsons, William Hunter Allen and Samuel Banks Allen; granddaughters, Carolyn Michelle Parmer and Elizabeth Paige Parmer.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be sent to Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church or Gentiva Hospice.
