I moved to crystal valley at the age 7 and my first friend was Bill. Bill was a year older and a lot smarter than this old city slicker as he called me. As a gift he brought to my home several bantam chickens which thrilled me so ,what a gift. That was the city slicker thinking. Little did I know , by morning of the next day they were all back home at his house. We laughed about that for years . More things that young man taught me but too many to express here.
      It was a blessing to know Bill and an empty place in my heart with his passing.  God bless and keep you Elaine until you meet him again.

Elaine, we are so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I told my Sister, Virginia Willis about it. You and Bill were so kind to them in the rebuilding of their home after the fire. Jack Willis died Feb. 13th 2018. Virginia celebrated her 91st Birthday
last November. Regards from the Greathouse and Willis families.

Aunt Elaine, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Uncle Bill. You are in our prayers. I’m also sorry we were unable to attend the service due to being out of town. I know it was beautiful.
I would like to share a special memory about Uncle Bill you may have never known.
He was always one of the first people to come and visit us after bringing home a new baby. Uncle Bill loved babies so. He would sit and love on them. We enjoyed the time with him and watch how much he loved to hold and love on a the babies. Will always be a special memory of mine.

Elaine, we are so very sorry for your loss. Willie was remembering back to the days when y’all all rode  Mr. Chaney’s school bus, through elementary and Jr. High.   He said when he saw you both it was like no time had passed.  You are in our prayers.

All of my memories of Bill were of his coming up to the farm, bird hunting, and visiting when I was a little girl.  He was always a lot of fun and a daredevil.  He and Freddie both had muscle cars with 8 cylinder engines and they would fly down the expressway before it was finished.  Aunt Virginia would say that her boys always drove safely and they would come in the driveway on 2 wheels they would be going so fast.  We would go fishing and he would leave the road and go through the field of kudzu with not a care in the world and we would all be laughing and having a good time.  He would let me go hunting with them if I carried the dead birds.  These are wonderful memories of a time gone by when things were so much simpler.  His family was his heart and he loved you, Elaine, as much as my Daddy loved my mother.  He was so proud of his family and I never saw him without his talking about his family.  I will be making a donation to the Bussey Family Cemetery and Animal Ark in his memory.  So sorry for your loss.  You're in my thoughts and prayers that you will find peace at this time.

Elaine, please accept my sincere condolences regarding Bill’s passing. I have thought of you and Bill very often over the years as I have  continuously enjoyed the cabin he built for me on the land I bought from him in Cataula. I know how much he loved that farm and really never wanted to sell the property. However, I could never clearly articulate how much that cabin and farm have meant to me as I have faced many challenging times over the past 28 years or so that I have owned it. Bill will forever hold a special place in my heart. 

Mrs. Mann, I just spoke with Mr. Mann on the day of the service for Mr. Fortenberry and we shared tears and memories of him.  I know he was very saddened over that loss.  While that day we shared tears on many other occasions he brought smiles and laughter to the office by his visits and phone calls.  He always spoke with such obvious love and respect for you.  We will miss him and his love for life!  I am so sorry for your family’s loss!

Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. He was a wonderful man and he loved his family. I remember how much he loved his dogs also. I feel very proud and honored to live in a beautiful home that he worked so hard to build. He will me missed by so many.
