Columbus, GA- Funeral services for Mr. Brooks will be 3:00pm, Wednesday, July 10, 2013 in the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum at Parkhill Cemetery with Dr. Don Wilhite officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum on Wednesday, July 10, 2013.
Mr. Brooks was born in Union Springs, AL, a son of the late Alfred Roland and Alma Jane Mooney Brooks.
A resident of Columbus, GA for nearly 50 years, Mr. Brooks had moved to Aiken, South Carolina be near his daughter. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, serving tirelessly as an usher. During World War II, he stormed the beaches of Normandy with his field artillery unit.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Brooks Brisbin and her husband Dr. I. Lehr Brisbin of Aiken, South Carolina, and step daughters, Carolyn Copeland and Nadine Walthall.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Allred Brooks, a sister, Frances Brooks Barbaree, two brothers, Florence Gibson Brooks and George Roland Brooks.
